landscape

learn to create an edifice of stardust, roots in dark quicksand-
there is always as much to climb as it is to descend,
a constant rise and fall to the melody of the stars

this tree of life hums quietly to itself, its branches surrendering to the fabric of the skies
while roots dig deep into the core below
so are we, my love, so are we-

stretched between wasteland and infinity
our words the tools that could direct these clumsy manifestations
instead we use them to destroy, perpetuate a science of defeat

come on and rise

in silence, i sing to my spirit to be bare and weightless
return to the body it deserted, renounce this alchemy of fear

go easy on me, you know these chains of sorrow are plucked in deep
the spark that ignites them is still buried at your core

and i sing, voiceless, to the land i call my home,
nameless with a melancholy of perfection
